(27/09/07): Taoiseach opens new HQ for Enfer Group
Co. Kildare, Ireland, September 27, 2007 - The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, T.D., officially opened the new headquarters of the Enfer Group on the 27th of September, including its Veterinary, Diagnostic and Research Centre at the M7 Business Park, Naas, Co. Kildare. The headquarters comprise of two purpose built facilities totalling 50,000 square feet.
I his speech Mr. Ahern said:'' Companies such as yours represent a new breed of dynamic firms and management that base their success on these very strengths. It is no exaggeration to say you are a pointer towards the continuing success of Irish business in the 21st century.'' He continued by saying he believes that '' Enfer Scientific has the potential to propel its competitiveness through further innovative research leading to the development of new technologies for new market niches. Your investment in these research and development facilities is both welcome and timely. It reflects the fundamental transition being made by successful Irish enterprises, operating at the cutting-edge in their preferred business segment, to compete successfully in a higher value-added and more innovative economy.
At the opening Mr. Nicky Brennan, president of the G.A.A., made a presentation to the captain and the trainer of the Tipperary Minor Hurling team, Brendan Maher and Declan Ryan. The Tipperary minor Hurling Team became All-Ireland champions for the second time in a row on September 2, 2007.
The Enfer Group currently employs 120 people and with the launch of Enfer Diagnostics expects to double the workforce by creating an additional 120 jobs over the next eighteen months, employing technical graduates and scientists in its new centre.
Enfer Group is a specialised provider of advanced diagnostics to improve animal disease management worldwide. The Group has recently launched Enfer Diagnostics with innovative veterinary diagnostics tests now used in the EU and the US.
Recognised by industry and working to observe the needs of government agencies, Enfer Diagnostics is committed to delivering only the most accurate diagnostics that disease eradication demands.
In June of this year, Enfer announced its partnership with AnDiaTec of Germany in the development and commercialisation of new veterinary diagnostic tests such as Bovine Viral Diarrhea virus (BVDv) and ParaTB. Enfer is now selling such products in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy and has recently launched the products in the US.
The BVD PCR Technology, now sold by Enfer Diagnostics, this week won the Best New Veterinary Product - Diagnostics in the prestigious international Animal Pharm Awards '07 held in London. The Animal Pharm Industry Excellence Awards is a platform designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of organizations working in the animal health industry. The Best New Veterinary Product for Diagnostics is designed to recognize excellence in diagnostic development that represents the greatest diagnostic advance in it's area. Speaking at the awards ceremony and accepting the honour, Dr. Johannes Kehle of AnDiaTec said "I'm very pleased that BoVirŪ has been recognized by the Ag Pharma editors and judges as a diagnostic test that will allow a farmer and veterinarian to effectively manage the herd's health in a cost efficient way utilizing the latest molecular technology available. Now a farmer can be sure that BVDV detection is early, accurate and reliable. Both AnDiaTec and Enfer Diagnostics are looking forward to launching additional products in the near future to be equally worthy of such an elite group of organizations and individuals."
In addition to the export market Enfer is now providing laboratory services to the Irish veterinary and farming industry utilizing these new EU approved diagnostic tests.
The Enfer Group is also developing further diagnostic tests in its state-of-art Research & Development Centre in collaboration with Irish and international Universities, such as DCU in the Biomedical Diagnostic Institute.
The Enfer TSE test developed in the 1990s is sold worldwide through the Abbott Laboratories distribution network. Enfer recently received EU approval for its Third Generation TSE test - Enfer Version 3.0 which is a fully automated TSE testing solution.
The Technical Director of the Enfer Group, Michael O'Connor said: "Our goal is to develop and provide a comprehensive veterinary diagnostic suite of tests that provides the complete solution to the agricultural and food industries both on a national and international level".
